Who is Mattéo Moskal?
Mattéo Moskal, Belarusian/Ukranian by ethnicity, raised in Philadelphia, son of the renowned artist Boleslaus Moskal, was drawing before he could walk.
Dabbling in his youth in portraits, cartooning, ceramics, jewelry, glass blowing and metalworking, he slowly developed the style of 3-dimensional wall art known today.
Described as a modern day Picasso or Kandinsky but in 3-dimesions, his next generation "cubism" has real cubes of wood, paint and other material.
But, where Moskal really sticks out, literally, is by breaking one of the largest conventions in wall art - "rectangles."
Mattéo's pieces come in all shapes - oval, marquise, diamond, modified rectangles and free-form organic shapes.

Also, resisting the ornate, perfectly right-angled frames that hold most paintings, Mattéo designs his own frames, detouring from the rectangles that are standard and creating styles that can only be fully appreciated in person.
The art within each frame often escapes the frame entirely, decorates and dances around it, makes the frame part of the interior of the art or twists and turns into an almost indescribable pattern.

Praised by art critics for forging new avenues and opening new boundaries, Mattéo not only ignores the acclaim but in a Banksy-esque working class repugnance, rejects gatekeepers' opinions and lays his own criticism to the art world for both its stuffiness and exclusivity.

In April of 2022, Mattéo began blanketing cities, small towns and anywhere he could go with small pieces of "free art", leaving small colorfully painted pieces in coffee shops, bus stations and parks.

These started with hand painted wooden blocks but soon developed into small but unique pieces, freely left for whoever.
Moskal has been compared to Banksy, leaving his mark everywhere, but also to Beepo, who grew his fame by giving away free pieces.

More than anything, Mattéo seeks to start an "Art Revolution" - using art to lift the average person out of a place of despondence or discouragement - and communicate positivity to artists and non-artists alike.
Mattéo hopes to inspire people to leave behind the fear and self-judgement that permeates much of society and chase their passions with exhuberance and wild abandonment.

Several mini-documentary and impromptu videos circling the web show both Mattéo's passion for people exploring their dreams and the many processes by which he paints and builds one of his multi-dimensional wall pieces.
Despite all these free mini pieces given out, obtaining an original full sized Moskal isn't easy. He produces several works a year but to date has held them close to home, exhibiting only in private, invitation only, gallery shows.

These exhibitions are usually only held once or twice a year and often at undisclosed locations known only to the invitees and rumored to have bizarre installations and entertainment which push the boundaries of tradition and expectation.
Former attendees describe everything from sitting on strange, almost Dr. Seuss-esque handcrafted furniture to being offered to drink and eat from oddly formed ceramic vases and amoeba-shaped plates.
